Market Coupling of European Electricity markets has significantly reduced regional price differences. Currently, flow-based calculation methods are discussed as a next step of European Energy market integration. Experts will discuss the topic from different perspectives: Pieter Schavemaker (Eurogroup Consulting) , Paul Giesbertz (Statkraft) , Adriaan van der Welle (ECN), Bert Willems (Tilburg University). BAEE organizes a small-scale workshop which offers Master and PhD-students and experienced researchers from the Benelux the opportunity to present a paper on energy economics and to interact with colleagues.
The workshop covers all topics related to energy economics, from environmental policy and reliability of energy networks to regulation and competition issues. We will accept papers in economic theory, empirical work and economic policy, and are also open towards interdisciplinary work such as techno-economic energy models or legal-economic analysis of energy policy. The BAEE has been dormant for several years. In 2011 a number of energy economists from different backgrounds took the initiative to restart the BAEE. This group consisted of Aad Correljé, Jeroen de Joode, Hamilcar Knops, Machiel Mulder, Guido Pepermans, Laurens de Vries, Bert Willems and Gijsbert Zwart. One of the activities was to organize a General Assembly of Members. In this meeting, which took place on 15 November 2011, a number of changes in the Articles of the Association were approved. Moreover, the Assembly elected a new board for the next 2 years.
